In regards to shooting safety.Until you are ready to fire, keep your booger hook off the bang switch.

You had me worried there for a second until I read post #3.

The Ruger DA Six series revolvers were some of the best DA revolvers ever made , IMO.

The older Rugers are my favorites. Back when they weren't casted and are solid.

Looking for a Speed Six next!

Until polymer came into vogue, all Ruger frames except the Mark 1 were cast steel.
The words weak and Ruger do not belong in the same sentence.

Are those Ruger grips? They look a little different than the security six grips I grew up with.

No kidding they are strong. We had one, a blue 4" barrel version, come to the shop last week. The cylinder carried 3 live rounds and 3 empty cases. The owner advised he was firing the ammo that came with the Ruger when he bought it 10 years ago. He had fired 3 rounds, but then the trigger would not pull, the hammer could not be cocked and the cylinder could not be made to move or open from the frame. The pistol was clean, no signs of abuse. The ammo was the cause of the tie-up. That ammo (.38 Special cases, mixed manufacture) was handloaded and the last round to fire flattened the primer, which then partially dislodged from the case and froze the cylinder in place. That primer locked the cylinder in place. We got the cylinder open and found the primer on the work bench. The primers in the 2 rounds that did fire were flat and flowing toward the edges of the primer pocket. After a close, detailed inspection we found no damage to the cylinder, chambers, frame or barrel. A strong revolver? You betcha. We also suggested that the owner dispose of any remaining ammo that came with the revolver. He sounded enthusiastic to do just that.
