Question on sks side mount scope rail

I just picked up a norinco type 56 imported by KBI. It has a factory installed rail mounted to the left side of the receiver for a removeabke scope mount. Problem is, I have no idea what scope mount fits it. Any suggestions or thoughts?

Nice work on that. I’m just hoping to be able to keep things original if possible.

Kind of reminds me of some sks that navy arms modified or imported. "Cowboy companion" was one type. It also looks like the mount for a peep sight found on russian target 22's.
    Interesting for sure

Google AK scope mounts. You'll find your mount there.

It’s very similar to an ak rail, but about 3/8” shorter in length.

I just got tired of trying to keep everything Original.
I would rather have something Functional, and be out shooting, rather than wait for some Part that is not as good or what i really want.
But then I do my own work out of scrap I have laying around.
Others do not have this option , tools or skills.
That scope mount was made from a piece of 1/8" metal plate left over from a construction job.
The rail is an old mount off a Marlin 336 that I sold years ago.
A Hack saw,Mapp gas torch, Vice, a file and a drill and tap, i was in business.

Lags, I like original but function & cost comes first in my little world. I am not going to take a military rifle that has pieces missing(like yours) and spend a ton of money on finding an original part. Especially when I can make a piece that is both functional and looks right also. Anyone else that wants to go the original route I say "more power to you" but I'm a cheap date and it ain't going to happen on my watch. You mount looks fine to me and it should get the job done. my .02 anyway, james

Money has not been a deciding factor in my book, it is the time .
The time waiting for the Correct part, then to find out that is Not Correct as you thought.
But the whole scope mount I made took me about two hours, and about $10.00 at most in Parts.
Now, that is a Cheap Date
