I have 3 perfect cans. Smells and looks perfect. Anybody have data? I understand it was discontinued 1966-67....
I bet this goes a long way in a 45 acp or 38 spec......

I have a #44 and a couple other old manuals. I will paw through them tomorrow.

I have downloaded several old manuals for free.

It is listed here. Download this PDF of the 1955 Lyman #40 reloading manual. http://www.goodrichfamilyassoc.org/4...%2340-1955.pdf

It's not listed for 38's in the Lyman 44 manual but you can download Lyman 44 here. http://www.nzha.co.nz/wp-content/upl...08/Lyman44.pdf

Also found this posted on another reloading forum:

    From Handloader's Digest 1964
    .45 ACP
    185 gr JSWC + 4.2 gr P5066 = 655 fps 25 yd bullseye load?
    185 gr JSWC + 5.8 gr P5066 = 1005 fps MAXIMUM
    230 gr FMJ + 5.7 gr P5066 = 830 fps MAXIMUM

    .38 Special
    148 gr WC + 2.9 gr P5066 = 745 fps
    158 gr LRN + 3.8 gr P5066 = 870 fps MAXIMUM
    200 gr LRN + 3.5 gr P5066 = 770 fps MAXIMUM

    From Speer No 9
    .45 ACP
    200 gr SWC + 6.0 gr AL5 = 749 fps
    200 gr SWC + 6.5 gr AL5 = 799 fps
Don't know if that is maximum, Speer doesn't push this swaged bullet much over 800 fps with anything. See...

    200 gr JHP + 7.9 gr AL5 = 889 fps
    200 gr JHP + 8.5 gr AL5 = 965 fps MAXIMUM
    225 gr JHP + 7.9 gr AL5 = 859 fps
    225 gr JHP + 8.5 gr AL5 = 918 fps MAXIMUM
Double check... yup, same loads for 200 and 225 gr JHPs.

    .38 Special
    148 gr BBWC + 4.9 gr AL5 = 835 fps
    148 gr BBWC + 5.5 gr AL5 = 928 fps MAXIMUM
    No loads shown for HBWC

    158 gr SWC + 5.1 gr AL5 = 840 fps
    158 gr SWC + 5.5 gr AL5 = 901 fps MAXIMUM

    125 gr JHP + 6.3 gr AL5 = 1004 fps
    125 gr JHP + 6.6 gr AL5 = 1054 fps MAXIMUM

    158 gr JSP + 5.7 gr AL5 = 840 fps
    158 gr JSP + 6.2 gr AL5 = 906 fps MAXIMUM

They had loads for 110, 140, 146 and 160 grain jacketed, let me know if you want to load those and I will post data.

I doubt that you will wear a 1911 with 3 lbs. of powder.

#41 Lyman has data for 5066.

My hands are not working well this morning so I'm not going to try to type all the data. However if any of you have phones that can receive pictures I can send you photos if you PM me your phone number. Could also email them if I had an address.
