    Loose bolt on .22 WMR

I have an older Stevens .22 Mag that the bolt moves to the open position very easily, and will completely open if the rifle is pointing up in the air. Almost a nice problem to have except that it’s just too much. It opens up often when just walking through the woods. What are some things I can do to make it ‘rougher’ or harder to open? I already wiped it down internally the best I could?

I can't help with the question but we probably at least need a model number or name.

If it locks at the rear of the bolt you could try bending the bolt back slightly to take up slack. You can also weld a bead on the receiver and file it down to fit the bolt.

Most people dream of smooth operating bolts I guess you could try running it dry, spray it down with brake cleaner, use a soaked patch inside rec also?

Don't beat on the bolt handle with a hammer. I did that on a 22 once and broke the bolt handle off. If you study the mechanism you may find a place for a well placed very thin shim.
