Kinda rough at 50 to 60%. I collect and wouldn't give that kind of money for a carbine model even if President Trump was its owner. 1000 to 1200 max I'd say is fair & equitable for such condition 1894. No Gun Value books here. Only my intuition >that's served me well over the years when it came too my firearm purchases.

If you are saying that the current owner wants 25,000 for the rifle it is way over priced. You could get a donor mdl 94 in 30-30 and build you a 25-35 several times for that price. Just saying that if you really want a 25-35 and not a wall hanger there are cheaper ways to get it done

WoW''''I checked out gun Broker.........My thinking of 50 to 60% may be wrong by what I saw on GunBroker !!! New in the Box 20'' carbine/Rifle $1,195
and the 1900 mfg date in 30wcf got my attention $1500 + 38-55 ,32-40 way high in price !! But no way to tell what is selling !!!

The wood from what I saw was in fact better than what I saw on GB....... This 25-35 in a good Shooting condition may be closer to $1800 from what I saw!!

I collect too and can say no way I would give that kind of money. one thing to remember if you change the wood you cut the value in half. don't matter if it will letter or not it is altered.the same with extra holes drilled in the gun. I have passed on more then one where some one put a tang sight from a Stevens on a 94. one hole gets drilled right through the c in Winchester.

I have a blue book subscription. The value for 50%, which is better
than you describe is roughly $2100. I would value (if I were buying)
quite a bit less if the wood is going to need to be replaced. Just for
reference, 20% is roughly $1200. I watched one (25-35) in December
that eventually sold for more than I would have imagined. That was a post
war pre-64 that had been drilled for a side mount scope. It sold for $830.

Thank You eljefe ......I've been thinking of going back this evening with a big stick and see if he will come around!! The Carbine is a shooter hands down.
coming across a Winchester from a neighbor that is over the 100 year mark is kinda cool and not dealing with a person at the gun show or a pawn shop !

I hope you get it, OlDeuce, it sounds like a really interesting rifle. The
Winchesters in 25-35 seem to command a huge premium over the more
common calibers. I would like to own one some day. Good luck!

Well, you can't win them all. Maybe the seller will realize that he
is asking too much and call you back.

Regarding gunbroker, if you do an advanced search and click on
completed items, you can get a better idea of what items are actually
selling for. You will have to review, because some sellers have set
    reserves that were not met.

The wood and 50-60% condition kills it for most collectors, including me. Sounds like a great shooter or candidate for restoration.

Be observant. Allot of 1894 rifles were cut to carbine length years ago by gunsmiths.

This thread is making me feel bad. My first deer rifle was a Winchester Model 94 half octagon/half round 25-35. Condition was OK, but don't remember the barrel length, but it was the longer tubes, 26 inches I believe. Rifle was made just before the turn of the century. Was a fun rifle to shoot, but wouldn't feed cartridges very well. Around 1991 I traded it for a Savage 110 7MM Rem Mag. Hope you get the rifle...

I paid around $1200 for a 1906 1894 SRC 25 35 with an old refinish 6 or 7 years ago. The bore is perfect and I thought I overpaid, but I really wanted it. The gun probably graded around 80%.

What you paid at the time seems to be a fair price for a refinish! finding the one with that clean shiny bore ....... I've got 2 and the serial number is the hunt!1
