    Been busy in shop......

Machined first BTSimple 30 cal die over the weekend. It's capabilities are looking very good. It will make any bullet one wishes from very light to pretty darn heavy. It has a 10s ogive down to a .155 diameter meplat tip. I was playing around with different weight using both Sierra jackets and 5.7 brass for jackets and was easily making bullets from 150-220 grains.

I'll let you guys work the numbers.

Sierra 1.15" jacket = 45 grains and is 100% filled with lead to tip in this die @ 200 grains, any heavier will make a lead tip spritzer and any lighter a open tip or hollow point.

FN 5.7x28 brass jacket = 60 grains and is 100% filled with lead to tip in this die @ 190 grains.

Cutting the FN jacket off at the should junction will remove 5 grains of weight.

My testing for cores to make best possible bullet weights for given jacket and dies has given me good results with a combination of 65 grain and 90 grain cores.

here is some possible bullets weights

5.7 jacket (cut at shoulder) + 65 grain core = 120 grain bullet
    5.7 jacket + 90 grain core = 150 grain bullet
    5.7 jacket + two 65 grain cores = 190 grain bullet
    5.7 jacket + 65 grain core & 90 grain core = 215 grain bullet
Possibly even 5.7 with two 90 grain cores to make a 240 grain pill for the subsonic shooters. I'll have to see if it is possible......

Sierra jacket + 90 grain core = 135 grain bullet
Sierra jacket + two 65 grain cores = 175 grain bullet
Sierra jacket + 65 grain core and 90 grain core = 200 grain bullet
Sierra jacket + two 90 grain cores = 225 grain bullet

I haven't tried the copper tubing yet for possible weights.

I also have two more point styles to try, a 7.5s ogive with same .155" meplat and a RN offering.

Been busy working on these dies as well as orders on my list and also gathered all the inventory to machine this next run of dies. I'll keep you guys posted and have some pics and more data to share very soon.

These dies are working very good so far and I expect they will be able to please any shooter that wishes to make great 30 cal bullets. A 125 grain bullet for the fast 300AAC or 30-30. Bullets in the weight of 150, 175, 190, and 200 grain for the 308win, 30-06 and 300WM shooters etc. and bullets for the subsonic shooters of 215 and 225 grains and possibly even 240 grains!

A great selection of bullets to fit the needs for nearly any shooter made with a great set of BTSimple 30 cal dies!

    More to come!

You must have so much fun thinking about this stuff, working problems out, and working with the materials. I know the feeling.

Yes, actually I do enjoy it, just takes a bit of time and can be very challenging at times but it is ....... AWESOME when it all comes together!

I know the feeling well. It's unique, and I can't get enough of it. It drives me to try new things, and to perfect what I do.
