    Budget Bullet Puller

    Budget Bullet Puller
    1) wire stripper
    2) Drill out hole in wire stripper or? 1 size smaller than the desired bullet; round off edges with file
    3) Get proper shell holder
    4) If cartridge won't reach through top of press, get pipe/tubing (PVC is OK) that will fit over the ram on your press and is ½ in taller than the (brass set in shell case in ram) your pulling the bullet out of. Raise the ram through the pipe/tubing- put case in shell holder. lower ram until boolit base is flush with the top of the pipe/tubing grip with stripper and lower ram to pull pistol boolits.

Very nice! I do the same thing but hadn't thought of the wire stripper-- Your method won't ding the bullets.

Yes, Excellent idea to try to not mar the boolits/bullets!

Yup, great idea! I did have to read #4 3X before it sunk in.

hmmm..... that's a great idea. wife yells at me while I am beating on a 2x4 with a kinetic puller.

use this very method to pull lead bullets from problem 45 Colt rounds

the stripper does ruin the bullet but not problem as I'm after the powder and primer mainly. I can use the lead to recast more bullets

I use the stripper with the other face down and the edges are not rounded off. Might mar some boolits but that's not my concern.

Sorry, I added more detailed to the description.

The J-words I'm pulling are not damaged and are reusable.

The person that gave them to me said they didn't cycle his AR

The powder is 27 grns of (mostly) a ball power (i'm guessing H335)
WIth 4 types/weights of boolits (so far

That is a good idea, looks to be faster (& as someone else said) quieter than a kinetic puller.
Also you can dump powder into container Without separating bullet from powder like a kinetic puller. I've been procrastinating on pulling bullets for a while now, this looks like a winner.

Yep - is a 'budget' price - wire strippers are cheaper than any of the other bullet pullers! Great Idea

I have done this for years. I also redrill screw cutter holes and tap to gun screw threads works
good up to 6x48 after that is a little tough. They are not designed to cut hard screws. The screws
in most electrical applications are not hardened but some gun screws are.

I use the fuse cutting section of a blasters tool.
If I am careful I do not nick the bullet.
For boolits I use the impact/inertia puller.

I just got done pulling basically 500 cartridges my friend gave me because some rounds in the first clip didn't return the bolt to battery.

    Out of that 500:

    1 cartridge had no powder
2 cartridges had seriously compressed loads
there were 3 different weight and 4 different types of J-Words
the [55 gn] J-Word bullets weigh from 54.1 gn to 55.4
there were 3 types of powder
A handful of bullets appeared to have been glued in
12 cases with damaged necks these I'll convert to 300 AC or 7.62x25
a couple dozen bullets practically fell out of the cases these I'll convert to 300 AC or 7.62x25
the [55 gn} bullets weigh from 54.1 gn to 55.4
Most appeared to have been OK but several would have been a problem
