    9x19 rim thickness

Is there a brand of 9mm cartridge case with a thicker rim than most? I have a Star BM with possibly excessive distance from the extractor hook to the breech face that sometimes fails to extract the case from a factory Federal round. Do you know of a cartridge brand with a thicker rim? Thanks in advance.

All 9mm ammo is going to have a rim thickness of 0.045-0.050".

If you pistol has excessive extractor clearance it is a GUN problem and not an ammunition problem.

Have you tried taking the extractor out and cleaning it and the slide? They can get a buildup of crud under the section from the pivot hole to where they stick out of the breech face that actually keeps them from grabbing the case as much as they should. Also check the spring tension and hook shape while you're at it.

Yes there were some cases with thicker rims than others some years back.....maybe quite a few years back. RCBS, back in the day, made 2 different shell holders for the 9mm; #16 being the standard and #16 N for the others.
