    Savage 10FCP throat/bore questions?

Recently acquired a very nice Savage 10FCP from a member here: appears unfired, synthetic stock, 10-round mag, 24" fluted barrel, etc. Haven't shot it yet but have already discovered that it's got a very short throat...almost like my K31...and a very tight bore (.3075x.300). First discovered this when I tried to chamber some CB rounds I'd loaded up for my old M700 and found Savage' bolt wouldn't close on them. I knew the Remington had some throat erosion issues (33 years and 7K-8K rounds) but, even seating boolits deeper, couldn't get the bolt to close on PC'd RCBS 165 SIL without pushing GC way below the case neck. Also found that SMK 168s loaded for the Remington (2.810 OAL) were pushing about .030 into the rifling. Slugged the bore and did a pound cast of the chamber and got measurements cited above.

Went through my inventory of boolits and came up with some sized and lubed (no PC) 311291s and 311041s which, when seated to the crimp groove will chamber cleanly.

Anyone else shooting a Savage 10 or 11 encountered similar? Or, should I be considering having the throat reamed a bit deeper?

My 308 110 as a tight chamber I have to full length size or the bolt won't close but it shoots great .
