Thread: short barreled rifle legality questions

  1. #101
    Build both 10 inch pistol and a rifle. NFA prohibits attatching the pistol upper to the rifle lower without sbr tax stamp. Or buy a full auto. You may attach a pistol upper to an approved automatic without an additional sbr stamp. I don't know about registration requirements where you live. In any case, you need to speak with a local ffl before you build or buy.

    If you have a complete gun owning that barrel without a pistol lower or sbr lower could constitute intent. Again I seriously doubt if the batf is going to spend thousands of dollars raiding your home just for that.

    From your link:
    2) on the frame, receiver, or barrel the following additional information;

    A)The model;

    B)The caliber or gage;

    C)Your name or name of the Trust in the case of a Trust (no abbreviations are permitted for the Trust name);

    D)The city and state (you can abbreviate the state with the official 2 digit state code)
    So there’s no NFA engraving on the long barrel.

    Gun rights: because it's much harder to march armed people into an oven.

    I don't own the barrel vice and tools necessary to remove the barrel from my existing FAL and wouldn't remove the barrel if I could. I doubt they could actually drum up an intent charge. I'm missing so many pieces that it isn't even funny but they are welcome to try.
