31st Oak Ridge Long Range ML Match

If you have any interest in LR MLders this is a great match for beginners. The distances are 200yd, 300yd, 600yd, and 1000yd. The rules are very lenient as are the time limits. This is a great match to get your feet wet. This year it is on Thur, and Fri the 29th and 30th of March. There is a great BBQ dinner on Thur night and you can learn a lot at this match.
Contact info is Rick Weber, rsscweber@mindspring.com and the match fee is $50 which includes the dinner.

To say that a round ball at those distances would be a challenge is understatement.

I've never seen anyone use a RB in these sort of matches. I think beyond 200 yds they would be extremely in-effective. 535gr+ conicals and 90 to 100+gr of powder is pretty much the standard for those distances.

I'm planning on being there. You should compete, seriously, it is a laid back match and everybody is extremely helpful. If you are using the stock sights I can give you numbers to get you in the ball park. The first distance is 200 yd which is pretty much of a chip shot for the Gibbs. You get unlimited sighters and the times at 200 & 300yds is 1 hour to get 10 scoring shots and it goes up from there. You can be half way through your scoring shots and if you have a bad shot you can start over if you want, and guys do it.
The facility there is the best range that I've ever shot on. There are good backstops so even if you have a miss the guys in the pits can give you some guidance. You can also use cross sticks or sling whichever you prefer.
