    There are photos of a really nice expander die with a flexible Erickson type collet. It is capable of holding any size .001" gage pin permitting precision expanding that is easily adjusted.

    Seems to me you would need a new collet to go with each different diameter pin unless I'm not fully understanding the die

    The flexible Erikson style lets have the ability to expand and squeeze down.
    The total range per collet is 1/32".
    Yeah kind of expensive. About the only better solution is to own a lathe.
