    Remlin's with Remington date codes?

I picked up a like-new Remlin 1895G this weekend and while examining it, I noticed a 2-letter code (XJ) on the left side of the barrel near the receiver where Remington usually stamps their date codes. XJ would mean it was built in December 2015 which seems logical. This is the first Remlin I have seen with the date code though.

Remlin also finally updated the Marlin website too, the X series bolt actions and the 1894C are no longer there.
    Currently casting and loading: .32 Auto, .380 Auto, .38 Special, 9X19, .357 Magnum, .257 Roberts, 6.5 Creedmoor, .30 WCF, .308 WCF, .45-70.

    Not necessarily correct.
My new one has LL barrel code which would be Feb 2017, but I called Marlin and it is May of 2017.
Did you get the original box with it ?

That is sad. The x series were the best looking inexpensive rifle out there and certainly the best looking Savage clone. They replaced it with the ugly IMO model 783. Of all the 1894s I'll miss the CL model the most. I saw a 32-20 at a small swap meet at a decent price but just couldn't swing it that day. My dad uses his 1894CL .218 Bee as his saddle gun on his (Kawasaki) Mule.

I agree, the 783 is butt ugly. Looked at a new 1894 .44 yesterday. Overall it looked good other than the really fat forend. If I ever got one I would slim it down.

Yes, I have the box. Haven't looked on there for a date though. I bought a new 1894 .44mag about a year ago and there's just a small indention where the date code would be, no legible letters.

Is it possible that the barrels are being marked at the time of manufacture, and the date they gave you was a ship date?

This is the prefix Marlin Remington .
This starts with Remington production in 2009 .
Rem has since added a laser QDR or whatever it's called square tag in front of that .

This is the suffix on a 2010 .
Currently it appears that A is for 2009 , B for 2010 etc through 2017 it seems to hold true .
