I finally found my Grail 45 Colt!

Superb, Boatswain & Fred!!! The grail for me has always been the 5" bbl'd models...the only one I've been lucky enough to garner thus far is a 629 with full lug 5" bbl. It's heavy, true, but a fantastic shooter, even with full-monty .44 Keith loads. When I've had enough fiddling around with sub-caliber, puny, sissy calibered guns, I haul out the big timber...and it always delivers. Somewhere down in my shop I've got some saved & dog-eared, sub-2", 6-shot groups fired at 50 yds with those excellent S&W sights...I look 'em over from time to time; and dream again of my steely-eyed, iron fisted youth! Congrats on the finds, and enjoy those beautifully honed & correctly sized cylinder throats! Pics of your target/load efforts in the near future are expected! Best Regards, Rod

I would put the throats at .4515. I put 50 45-270-SAA's sized .452 (925-975 FPS) that I cast threw it with no issues. I don't like the front sight but that's easy to change since their interchangeable.

I agree it needs a Patridge front sight IMO.

Meant to type N Frame in 45 Colt.....my apologies. I’m not made of Colt revolver money, I’d rather buy a couple Smith’s and some acreage to shoot them on!
