If you look for my post on my recently acquired Danish Roller I had great success with the LEE 405 hollow base bullet powder coated up to about .463" and loaded over a modest Trapdoor load of IMR4198. It put 3 shots into about 2" at 100 yards out of my roller. I'm using .45-70 cases which do swell up at the base on first firing, but I'll neck size from now on.
I may have passed my "Best Before" date, but I haven't reached my "Expiry" date!

How do factory 45-70 trap door loads handle? Or am I just better off buying new brass.
