last one is of a processors face as he walked around the corner to help his helper finish my deer I shot with a 300 Blackout .. look closely just behind the front shoulder is the ENTRY hole .. exit on other side was golf ball size... That deer weighed over 180 lbs live.. he was the one that told me a Blackout would not kill a deer..
This is the ONLY deer that I have had much blood shot Surface meat on and again that's the ENTRY hole ..

these are some pics I found quickly there are many more ..
Bill I would not worry at all about expansion .. IF you are using something like 50/50 and 2% tin you will not have any expansion issues

Pic with 2 rows of bullets top row is 75 fps less than bottom row.. just shows how a small change in velocity GREATLY affects expansion

heres a few more .. I am getting a lot of pics that are too big for the site .. would have to send some time reducing before I can post but I think you get the idea ..

That was Logan . he was fully trained . Hooked to me and my son.. never cared for the wife..
excellent guard dog but also loved to play ..
he would fetch disc golf discs thrown over 100 yds as many times as you wanted to throw them
would come and sit about 10 yds behind my shooting bench waiting for me to get up and go get a target .. that was his sign to go play till I sat back down ..
he would jump 2 plus feet off the ground just to let me know he wanted outside to do his business

the only difference is that there is a coat on one.
it doesn't influence what the lead underneath it does.
it is just a coat, it's main involvement here is acting as a barrier between the lead and the steel.
it also happens to be pretty good at keeping gas behind it.
it isn't a cure all nor a magical life support system but it is a very useful tool for a caster to have in their bag of tricks.

Smoke4320 Thanks incredible pics to me anyways!

Well that gives me all the motivation I need to get started with the CB / PC project...
And thanks for the hint on 50/50 and 2% tin

I think the Nuke 50 may be a bit more than I need for the time being

From my own personal experience: I saw no difference in accuracy when I switched to powder coating and am actually using the same loads. This includes several pistol and rifle calibers as well as sub-sonic and super sonic loads. Many of which are in the same caliber and some using the same bullets.

I load a Lee 250gr REAL which is a 50 caliber muzzleloader bullet in 500 S&W. I size them .501" when I first started using this bullet it was with A-Lox lube. Accuracy with a scoped revolver at 50 yards was nearly one ragged hole. When I started powder coating these the accuracy did not change.

This is a mild load using 12gr Unique. My brother has taken 3 whitetail with this load one with lube the other 2 with powder coating. I personally shunned all 3. I saw absolutely no difference in bullet performance.

The lubed bullets were cast around 15BHN the PC bullets are around 12BHN. Both simply shot straight though exiting the same same as entering but all 3 did the job. I'm trying to talk him into using the 440gr with the same powder charge which his revolver shoots just as accurately so he would have more METPLAT but he's hard headed. You know the old if it ain't broke story.

Like at least one post mentioned above one significant difference I found with powder coating is I no longer have to make different hardness alloy for different calibers and loads. I shoot all pistol loads with 12BHN alloy and none with gas checks. Not even my own 500 S&W load using the 440gr at about 1450fps which is over 30k psi.

I'm just starting to experiment with super sonic rifle loads without gas checks. My first one is not by choice. It's a 340gr 45-70 bullet, it's a Lee and is not designed for a gas check. This bullet shoots great powder coated using a trap door level load using IMR-4198.

I do cast my .223 bullets still in the 15BHN range but loading these is still very new to me and I'm still working on it.

You'll like the results powder coating and don't worry about performance on game.

Survival Bill as you can see thru these pics I used multiple guns and multiple calibers all did their job on game. Given a little time to reduce pic sizes i could post more but i think you get the point.
So far in the 3 plus years of pc bullet shooting
Not a single rifle that was accurate with jacketed bullets could i not also find a pc load that was accurate. Not one ...
No tricks no special dies or loading techniques
Just good normal loading and testing.

Motor. FOR Me (YRMV) i have found i do not need a gas check till i exceed 2000 fps. This was observed in several calibers
Accuracy started to fall off. No leading just loss of accuracy. Adding a check my accuracy
Returned. Got over 2700 fps with a 223 this fall before i stopped for hunting season.
This spring i hope to continue testing. My goal is 2900-3000 fps just because. I would be happy at 2800 fps but want to see if i can push it ...

Interesting! Did you have any feed problems with the 247? I'm playing with a NOE 311-155 for a super sonic round and have feed issues.

FL alot of 300 blackout ARs are being built with 223 barrel extensions. If yours is you can open up(taper) the backside of the 3 bottom lugs on the extension. Greatly helps feeding issues. Also make sure the extension ramp meets smoothly with the uppers flare.
If not file till you have a smooth transition

You want the transition to look like this
To feed the 308-312 dia bullets the back of the inter and outer lugs that match the 2 troughs need to be tapered more
