    Lost two good people

Our club lost two good people this December.
Doug Boyer passed away in his sleep.
Got home from his shop. felt tired, went to take a nap before dinner, and never woke up.
He had a Military surplus, and patch, mail order company.
Lost his wife about 10 years ago.
They were like two peas in a pod.
He for the most part was retired, but kept the mail order going.
He'd tell me, it was a reason to get up in the morning, that kept him doing it
Used to own some Militaria surplus and accessories stores around the island.
Used to travel to lots Gun shows to sell things in the states in the past.
Had homes here and in the states.
I think he sold everything and divided it between his children.
Good man. I will miss him.

Steve Marvin had dementia and was in poor health.
He and his wife were in a hospice next to each other.
They would talk and hold hands when both were awake together.
They both pass almost the same time.
He moved to the states a while ago, but would come back once a year to visit
We didn't know he had moved back when he was not doing well.
We found out when his time was near.
Steve was a big collector of 1903 Springfield rifles.
    Had many one off prototypes.
Also collected many other military firearms.
I think he had a Gatling and a WW2 anti aircraft training set up.
From what I've been told, family donated the collection to a ,still in the planning stage, future Main Army Museum
He retired as a harbor pilot at the docks here.
I didn't know him as well as I would have liked, but he always treated me as a friend.

    It's hard to lose friends.

Well said. Sorry for your loss-like the man said, "No man is an island". Their passing diminishes us all.
    Micah 6:8
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

    "I don't have hobbies - I'm developing a robust post-apocalyptic skill set"
I may be discharged and retired but I'm sure I did not renounce the oath that I solemnly swore!
