Correct Handles for a Lyman 4-cavity mold

I recently picked-up a Lyman 356402 4-cavity mold and found that I do not have any handles to fit. Seems the mold slot is 1/4" and my handles are 5/16". I have been trying to determine how to remedy this and have seen information on a Lyman "nutcracker" handle. Picture attached. Is this what I need for the 1/4" mold? Are there other options that are available? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Those nut cracker type will work and so will these.

I once bought 2 sets of the `new and improved` Lyman 4 cavity mould handles. After just 1 casting session where I tried using both sets I cut off the bottom piece on the handles so that I could close the moulds. They work better now though I don`t use those heavy 4 cavity moulds much anymore.Robert

I've heard of people adapting the lee commercial (6 cavity) handles to fit but have not tried it -- much cheaper

Lyman make proper handles for their 4 cav. molds, I believe they don't make the nutcracker style anymore, don't mess with the Lee ones, they will break.

Looked at doing that. But would need to file off 1/16" to get them to fit. I have a WTB/WTT post for some used ones. Maybe I will get lucky.

Thanks, looks like I have a pair of the two cavity mold handles.

I've picked up a few old Lyman nutcracker handles, and sometimes even they don't fit. Had to mill them a bit thinner, and some are made a little twisted and need to be straightened out.

I milled the arms of a lee six cavity mold to fit the Lyman 4-cavity mold and opened up the mounting holes to fit the Lyman pins. A few casting sessions on them and they are still working great. Chuck
