Handled the Ruger for the first time today. LGS let me dry fire it. Trigger wasn't spectacular, but was decent enough, probably gets better with use. If they'd knock a # off and slim it down a hair, I'd probably buy one. It'd also be nice to move the rear sight to the rear of the receiver for more sight radius. The more I talk about what I want, the more it sounds like the Chiappa, too bad they have issues...
Mrs. Thumbcocker just got one with a holo sight. It eats cast loads like candy with no leading. Only shot it on an indoor range so far but will probably it the outdoor range this weekend. She loves it.
Paper targets aren't your friends. They won't lie for you and they don't care if your feelings get hurt.
I put a Volquartsen 10/22 Target Hammer Kit in my Ruger PC carbine today.
It is a drop in kit. You just change out the hammer and the trigger plunger
spring. I left the original hammer spring in.
Install is even simpler than putting this kit in a 10/22 as there is no
bolt release spring. And there is no pin on the sear that you have to
futz with so changing the trigger return spring is easier as well.
If you've ever taken down a 10/22 trigger group this will be a 5 minute job.
The trigger pull measured 5 lb 2 oz before installing the kit with the
trigger having a bit of creep. After the kit the pull was 3 lb 10 oz and
much cleaner. Definitely worth the $35 for the kit. I really don't think
I would want the trigger any lighter as this carbine is a possible home defense
gun.
I found out about this mod on the Brian Enos forum where a lot
of guys have done this. Evidently the hammer in the PC Carbine
and the 10/22 are the same. They look the same and it works.
Cha ching.

it's ugly as sin,but for some reasons i'd rather back pack with this one than the .22 take down.
maybe the uglyness is the occult appeal, but i'd put a quick release red dot and relocate the rear sight to get more sight radius.looks funny the way they mounted the RS.
Rear sight on the barrel means you don't worry about introducing play between front and rear is the barrel doesn't lock up exactly the same each time. If I were Ruger I'd have put a picatinny rail section or made an option for a dogleg mount, like the Volquartsen 22 takedown barrels.
Daddy warned me as a sprout about hanging out with the wrong crowd, and y'all are definitely the wrong crowd! Got the reloading necessities coming this week....now I gotta buy the danged rifle.
I washed my hands in muddy water
Washed my hands, oh, but they didn't come clean
Tried to do what my daddy told me, yeah
But I must have washed my hands in a muddy stream…

I can't figure out why Ruger can't make it without an 1/8 inch Gap in the middle.
I just handled one at the gun store and it's looks, price, and crudeness turned me off. If you want to see how a Takedown rifle should be fitted together, take a look at a Browning semi automatic .22 rifle.

I just checked my birth certificate and sure enough I am! My point was that they could make that large gap less if they tried. I voiced the same opinion when the 10/22 takedown debuted. I'm sure they work just fine- no reason to have the halves so far apart with today's machining. My opinion, nada mas.

I just got an email yesterday. Mine is on the way to the FFL. Should be in late tomorrow night. I will give feedback after a few hundred rounds this weekend.

Just pulling a fellow Texan's leg there TBG.
It would be nice if it was a little closer to flush I have to agree.
I went out and shot some handloads in mine today at the range.
These were the two best loads. 50 yards. 4 shots. 115 gr Hornady HAP bullet.
I'll shoot them again next week and chrono them.
It just got better looking

I ordered mine on Monday, 6/11 at my local gun store - $500 out the door. That is $75 under what I have found at Gun shows and other local gun stores (5 others in about 70 mile radius that I know of, probably more).
Now fr the question. I do not own a Glock, shot 1 or 2, my son has one in 40 S&W. What glock mags do these take?????? I have looked on the Ruger web site but all they mention is Glock Mags.
By the way I also checked the MSRP and it is $649.00. Just in case anyone was interested.

Congrats on getting a PC Carbine. Excellent price.
The carbine is going to come with a Ruger SR9 mag. Why not just stay with
Ruger mags since your are not invested in Glock ? That's what i did.
If I am not mistaken the Glock mags are a higher capicity.
I do cary a ruger pistol in the summer when my Kimber .45acp becomes harder to concel but it is a LC9S.
Might get a 9mm Glock just so I can use one type of mag.

I have tried G19 (15rd), G17 (17 rd) mags including 32 round Glock mags and it looks like G26 mags will also work.
Got my PC9. I ordered it months ago. Paid a lot less them most folks. I got lucky but I waited a long time for it. Its bulky and crude. It is what they say it is. An over sized 10/22. I kind of like it. Its stout. Trigger is heavier they I would like it. I will put 250 down the pipe before I play with smoothing out the trigger. This should brake it in well. I carry a Glock 26 as my edc. I will be switching out the mag well to see if the smaller G26 mags will work. Having a 10 round law to limit saving myself and the ones I care about really sucks. No sense in anything other then sub compact for carries. I am digging the Ghost ring. Range report to come....

Thank you JMax. What it appears to me is that any Glock 9mm mag will work. I guess they all have to notch for the mag catch in the same locations.

MGySgt the PC9 comes with two different mag wells. One fits the Ruger 9mm mags and the other is made to fit the Glock 9mm Mags.
This is what made folks think it would be possible to have different cals. You could switch the Mag well and mag along with the barrel. One can only hope.
