Uberti 1866 Yellowboy (sporting rifle) in .38. Beautiful gun, but made me realise just how light my Winchester .44-40 carbine is!

I've bought 3 new Marlins this year. A 94, 45 Colt, a 95, 45/70 CB and a 336, Texan deluxe. Contrary to some others experiences, my 3 new ones are just as good as my older JMs. Actually, better than some. I like em!

I bought a Browning/Winchester/Miraku Model 1885 in 50-90 Sharps a few years ago. I played with it some but hurling a 695 Gr Slug at 1250 FPS is not for the faint of heart. It just hurts too much. At the other end it kicked the target and stand over about 50% of the time. I need to find a lighter boolit for this beast. I added Kelly Soule globe in front and ladder tangent sight in the rear. I have a ton of money tied up in it and it is a shame that I do not shoot it more.

I also bought a Marlin 336 Cowboy in 38-55 Winchester from a forum member. This thing is pristine with an octagon barrel and flip up tangent sights on the rear with a globe sight on the front end. It is a pleasure to shoot and very easy to load for. The original owner had the Marlin folks ream out the chamber to .380 and then he worked over the trigger. This lever rifle can shoot! Much more accurate than I am. This I know since my shooting buddy tried it out and embarrassed the dickens out of me.

I re-entered the world of lever rifles this year. First with a Rossi M92 carbine in .44Mag followed by a Marlin 1895M .450 Marlin and finally a 1972 vintage Marlin 336 in .30-30. All either have or are getting peep sights and all will be cast bullet shooters.

New to me 1954 Savage model 99 in 300 savage. Put a Leupold vx-3i 1.5 to 5 scope on her. Still working up a accurate load for the old girl. Right now 40.8 of H4895 and a hornaday SST 150 grainer are getting about a 2 inch group at 200 yards.

I October I bought Marlin 1895 LTD III #825 and she's a beauty! It's the nicest handling and best balanced lever rifle I've ever held in my hands.

She was a safe queen, unfired in original box. Not any more

In 2018 she'll be getting some Skinner sights and an RPP Medium Loop Lever.

I picked up a Chaparral '66 in 45 Colt. I got a really good deal on it because Chaparral has such a bad reputation on the internet. Shoots great with most everything I've tried.

It's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years (Abe Lincoln)
