Yeah, unfortunately the gun fund envelope in the vault is mighty low now, and still gotta get the dies and other stuff to get this one going.

    Well its the wife's fault.
She asks me every year what I want for Christmas and I have always said (for the last 30yrs) I really don't need anything spend it on the Kids/ Grand Kids, this year a few weeks ago she heard me talking to a shooting buddy of mine about a Levergun in 41Mag have looking for years and the marlins being crazy money (I have a Mod 57 already make a nice companion) she called said shooting buddy and (I found out yesterday) between my sons and said buddy went on the hunt and in this environment of nobody has nuthin they came up short so yesterday morning I got a card and a pile of cash and was told spend this on a rifle
So Today I Bought/Won a Henry Steel Boy on gun broker hope to see it next week probably paid a little over retail but what the hell you only live once I am like a 12 yr old right now can't wait till it gets here
hopefully it gets along with my 336 35Rem cause I hate it when the kids don't get along
    Tony

Have been watching these short barreled single actions for a while and they were starting to disappear so I grabbed one in 44-40 . 3.5” is as short as a barrel a ejector can be effectively mounted.

    I did!
Marlin Model 444s, relatively early production. Currently my only lever gun.

I had a load for 444 that I was shooting out of a lone eagle pistol (which currently has a broken firing pin and is with a smith ) that was a max load of red dot under the saeco 431, a 250gr. gas checked bullet.

It was very accurate out of the marlin however the POI was incredibly low, even with the leaf sights set to maximum elevation it would hit a foot low at 100m.

I meant to try faster loading with a slower powder however started a new job and haven't been loading at all until the start of this month. I'm back at it now though.

I'm leaning towards putting a scope on this rifle, some recommendations would be nice.

While it's heresy here I'm also going to buy some jacketed bullets to try out. I'm going to get some hornady 240gr JHP and the 265gr bullet they make just for 444's.

I'm to try to find a couple lbs of H4198 and Alliant Reloader 7 to push them, and will also try out those powders with my cast.

I bought two leverguns this year, both chambered for .38-40 WCF. The first was an Uberti 1866 Sporting Rifle from Dixie Gunworks. The second was a Marlin 1889 made in 1890.

I'm still trying to find a good load for the Uberti but the Marlin shoots pretty well.

I have told myself to quit buying guns, but continue to find more that I really like. I got a few this year, a Winchester 1886 SRC, a Winchester 1895 38-72 and a dandy of a deluxe Winchester 1886 in 45-70...

Well, I don't have it yet, but I am trying to find a Henry Big Boy Carbine blued steel, 16" round barrel, side gate in .44 Magnum.

A dealer close to me has one, but it is color-case hardened and octagon barrel. Nice carbine, but not exactly what I want.

Dealer tells me he doesn't have any idea when to expect a delivery if he orders one.

    I will just wait....wait...wait...
