    TAC14,

My GUESS, once you get the stock back & reassemble the firearm, is that you'll be 100% PLEASED.
(I wouldn't take love nor money for the Remington Model 760 that Jessie remodeled into a 9.3x62.= His work is FAULTLESS, imo.)

Just asking and I understand the fun of an exotic but wouldn't a .35 Whelen give you more options in the same power range?
    Thanks.

Now it's lighter and probably more accurate to boot! Win-Win. My Rem 700 Jes .358 shoots as well or better than it did as a .243- I still have trouble believing it.

    TexasbyGod,

I believe you 100% = Jessie is a MASTER at his craft. = I literally know of NOBODY, who isn't pleased clear down to the ground by his work.
(I've got another 760 in .30-06 that I will soon send to Jessie for his MAGIC TRICKS.)

If a fella likes the 9.3's, and I do, given the shot in the arm that caliber received in the last 10 years there's plenty of options, cast and jacketed. No doubt there's more .358 bullets available than .366 but honestly, how many options does a fella actually need unless he's an inveterate experimenter....which sometimes I am. Usually I work up two loads, one jacketed and one cast but sometimes a fella just has to play....

    sharps4590,

Offhand, I can think of NO creature that's now walking about that a 9.3x62mm won't take, given a half decent shot. = Nobody can kill a critter deader than GYD.

I have a couple 9.3's, one a 9.3 X 57 and the other a pre-1900 Jones underlever single shot on by Johann Outscher I think in Ferlach. The latter is a straight, BP case. I can't imagine anything in the lower 48 I wouldn't put the 9.3 X 57 up against. The 62mm case is just more of a good thing and one I'd like to play with sometime along with a 9.3 X 74R in a nice double.

    sharps4590,

Fwiw, IF you are a "true fan of" the 9.3x57mm, there seem to be LOTS of HIGH QUALITY & REALLY HANDSOME rifles in that caliber out of Scandinavia in the gunshows now for CHEAP. = IF it wasn't a southpaw, I would buy at least 1-3 of them.
(At the last "big show", I saw a "fully engraved" 9.3x57, on a Model 1895 Mauser receiver, for 300.oo OTD. = The engraving alone, if done in 2018 would have cost 3-5X that much. = BEAUTIFUL work, imo. ---- The vendor's tables had at least 25 rifles for sale.)

When I was stationed in BRD years ago, the 9.3x57mm was the preferred caliber of the Scandinavian commercial moose hunters. - I was told by a Forstmeister that the commercial hunters like that caliber/chambering because it is sufficiently powerful to take a moose BUT blood-shots little edible meat.
(I suspect that the commercial hunters KNOW what they are talking about, as their livelihood depends on it.)

texas, that's what mine is, a Mod. 46 Husqvarna on the Mod. 96 action. I bought mine from Simpsons and I forget exactly what I paid for it but it was less than $300 including shipping. The bore is pristine, outside metal remarkable for what it is and the wood near perfect, it was just a little bit dirty. Amazing value for the money. Jacketed loads were a slam dunk. For cast loads I had to turn the necks and the results were definitely worth the effort. I also have a couple 9 X 57's, one in a Sauer & Sohn '98 Mauser the other a 9 X 57R in a drilling. Given the little difference between the two cartridges I believe I prefer the 9.3 but, there ain't no fly's on the 9 X 57. There's also an immediately post WWI Strover, Mauser, (1919-1920), in 8 X 57 with a .318 groove on a '98 action that's no slouch either. Some wouldn't like the .318 groove but that's what I like about it. For over 20 years I owned a Meffert drilling in 7 X 57R.

That '95 you mentioned sounds like one worth seeing!!

I suppose most gun cranks have a case they really like and the 57mm Mauser case has become mine, whether rimmed or rimless. Wouldn't a 9.3 X 57R, if they ever made a rimmed version, or a 9 X 57R in a double be one worth playing with!!!!

    sharps4590,

Fwiw, I've never even fired, much less owned, a 9x57mm rifle. = All the ones that I've used or owned were all 9.3mm bore.
(Being a southpaw, I once had a Model 700BDL-LH rebored to 9.3x62 but traded it off for a drilling.)

ADDENDA: My "PET RIFLE" is a circa 1989 Model 760 that JES rebored. - It's in my will.

Btw, it looks like that the 9x57 is "the ballistic twin" of the .358WCF & I owned/hunted with a .358 Sako Finn-Wolf, when I was stationed in BRD.

    yours, tex
