    Pool Vacuum Weights

Based on a youtube video I took apart a worn out pool vacuum head, similar to this:

I extracted these weights (about 2.25 pounds):

Any idea what the alloy probably is? It scrapes pretty easily with a screwdriver.

The ones I checked were Zn. Use a cutting pliers to test. I passed one up I saw on the road because the one I had was Zn, must have fallen out of a truck.

I took one of those pool sweepers apart once. Wasn't into casting at the time, but been saving lead for a long time. Didn't look like lead to me, so I pitched them into the scrap pile. As NYFirefighter357 said, test with a pair of dykes. Or use a drop or two of pool acid. If zn, it will foam up.

Tin snips cut through these, and the YouTuber I saw was casting bullets with his. I'll see if I can find the video again.
