FS: Collector Winchester Model 61 22LR/L/S circa 1954-57

    Collector Winchester Model 61 22LR/L/S circa 1954-57

This is obviously a post 1954 version with the grooved receiver for tip off mounts (see review below). It's lived life as a safe queen. Gun is pristine! Butt plate is the checkered blued steel (according to strong magnet) and not the later era plastic composite. This puts production dates between 1954 (when tip off receiver started) and 1957, when Winchester moved to a composite, plastic butt plate. Serial number is shown in the images below.

$1900 plus shipping/ins to your FFL from a private owner

One small blemish in the stock near the left side wrist area (chip in finish, no damage to wood) ...

Blemish on bbl bluing near muzzle, but not deep and no rust. Gun is pristine ...

Bore is very bright and crisp. Action is like butter. Winchester got it right on this one.

History excerpt of Model 61 Winchester: A number of changes occurred during production life of the Model 61. From 1932 to 1957, the butt plates were checkered blue steel. Later ones were black composite plastic. Triggers were grooved beginning in 1950. Receivers were authorized to be grooved for tip off scope mounts in 1954, in line with other 22’s of the era such as Mdl 77 and 66 Auto loaders plus the bolt action Mdl 69A & 75 Sporter.
