Looks easier than grinding.

Ive seen the stuff, but i still use a belt grinder and a drill. The chem sharp wont let you tailor the points to what you are welding.
Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do. metalworker, woodworker, mechanic, restorer and 200.00 stamp collector
yes been used for years
I thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread when it came out in the 70s but I wouldn't use it today if you gave it to me. Much better points with a 4" grinder and an 80 grit tiger paw.
I keep a Starrett 240B pin vise in my tungsten holder and just tighten the tungsten in the chuck and spin it against the wheel. No burned fingertips.
Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? I've used it, but I would rather grind my tungstens.
I don't know if you're aware of Welding Tips & Tricks, but Jody Collier does a great job with welding videos, especially TIG, and I've leaned a lot from him.
At about 1:25 he demos some Chem sharp.
I use it because I don't have a dedicated grinder and I believe it helps keep the contamination down.
BIG OR SMALL I LIKE THEM ALL, 577 TO 22 HORNET.
We used it on the floor for running repairs where there wasn't a grinder close by. In the weld shop we ground them. I liked the ground tips but sometimes in the plant it was a long walk to a grinder.
Ordered a bottle.
Well see how it works.
Just don't like the idea of the dust floating around.
Got the bottle. What was left of it anyway.
Got smashed in the mail.
Tried to get as much of the glass out of it, and put it in another bottle.
Tried it, and i like it.
Used a propane torch to heat, dip it until the point is sharp.
Easy.
