I still can't warm up to an ambidextrous safety.

or you could pick up a new Sig P220 in 10mm with enough cash left over to buy a Glock 29 and a box of ammo

    Retail to Retail:

    SA TRP $1790

    P220 Hunter $1629

I wonder what the street price will be.

Gunbroker has one listed for $1799.
I wasn't expecting to find one listed yet but there is one and just one.

The longslide ten is a hot item nowadays. The Iver Johnson(Armscor) looks good for the money. They go up from there. I sure want one-or a .41 mag revolver........

Ruger will sell 10 of their 10mm 1911s for every one of these at more than twice the price. And wont sell out the 2A by signing off on infringing state laws like SA did in Illinois

Seems a bit overpriced... Plus, it's only a single stack. I would rather have the Para P16-40 and then increase the leade so that it could handle .40SW brass loaded to 10mm OAL and then load it to 10mm pressure. For day to day carry though, I prefer a slightly shorter barrel. Something along size of the RIA mid-size double-stack M1911 (i.e. 4.25" barrel). I already have a RIA single-stack 10mm full size M1911, so the Springfield offering doesn't particularly make me want to jump up and go buy it.

How do they arrive at a "heavier slide/barrel combo?"
Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? I assume it is because of the available long slide with the extra length and hence heavier. I could be very wrong about that though.

    Smaller hole = more steel.

I just checked their posted spec. The only version of the 10mm that is heavier than the 45acp model is the longslide.
The standard mil-spec version is only 1 ounce different. Not enough to matter.
The longslide is 5 ounces heavier.

Save yourself about $1100 and buy an Iver Johnson longslide. Forged steel slide, cast steel frame, BoMar type rear sight, dovetailed front sight, and many more features either in ported barrel, non ported, blue or stainless. The blue model is running about $600 something from Bud's gunshop. Had mine for nearly a year and been shoot factory equivalent loads from it and nary a problems and nothing has gotten loose, or the frame peening. Singe recoil spring and with a non ramped barrel. None of the hype about how they beefed it up like the Springfield, heck Colt doesn't even do that. The new Colt Delta Elites are improved from the first models, but nothing really beefed up. I believe the do use dual recoil springs, but then again they are five inch barrels. Like Springfield, Colt is over prices and so is Dan Wesson and Sig. Now the Glock 10mm isn't so expensive. I have that in a long slide and it's dynamite. I thought when I got the 1911 10mm longslide the recoil would be more then Glock, but it's not. The Glocks polymer frame does a good job of soaking up the recoil. Just my 2 cents.

For the money, the RIA double stack 10mm has my interest.
