    Fluid beds?

I was browsing a tackle making forum and people there are building fluid beds to powder coat lead jig heads. Essentially the powder sits on a semi-porous membrane that is pressurized with air from below. The whole thing vibrates like a tumbler and the powder just swirls around and coast the jig heads. The rigs those guys are building aren't suitable for high volume bullet coating, but the idea could easily be scaled up.

    Anybody here try that?

A couple of us tried it, mixed results. Jig guys don't care if the coating is too thick or lumpy.
    Whatever!

I have tried a fluid bed, it was a diy type using bond paper as the bottom membrane. There is a way to get around the thickness issue. By using a battery (9 volt) ionizer. If you are not careful to keep air pressure down there will be a thin cloud of pc about 3/4" above the main bed. Using tweezers if wires hooked correctly the cloud will deposit a thin layer of pc on the boolit. The only issue is where tweezers catch boolit -no powder.
