    311-175-FN 2 cavity PB (Saeco #315)

Anyone have the plain base version of the Saeco 315? How does it do in 30-30 and 308 and such.

    Here is the NOE version...

    Thanks, Dale

It will does outstanding at 50 yrds with my 30-30 single shot
    As cast.
    Acww alloy
Drip lubed in 50/50 bw and vaselene or simple lube.
    Pinch of dacron.
    Any half decent primer. cci
Short cases unsized just sitting in the neck with a good chamfer so it stays put and seats into the lands etc.
I think 4 gnrs bullseye but I upped the charge so they would group with the appropriate elevation at 300 yrds.
I lost my data in a smart phone crash.

I would use this hunting either breach seated or fixed if I could find a holder to stop the lubed bullet falling out or dust and pocket lint getting on the lubed bullet.

Could bring on another level of excitement if a misplaced shot on a big pig and a quick reload is in order.
Maybe two spares holding in my mouth in case a bullet falls out.

I guess they shoot things with muzzle loaded black powder too.
But at least they have the benefit of a smoke screen for protection.
    Ha

    hope it helps.

Out of several molds (RCBS 165 SIL, Lyman 31141, RanchDog 165), the SAECO #316 remains about my favorite .30 cal bullet.
I casts about .312 from my alloy, when sized to .310 feeds easily in any 30-30 I've encountered, including early pre-microgroove Marlins and sloppy chambered Savage 340 bolt actions. I no longer weigh bullets from this old 4 cavity mold, as I've never found a variance greater than +/- .2 grain between cavities even in extended casting sessions.
While I prefer larger meplats, this bullet kills on par with any others as noted "6 pigs in 60 seconds" noted in a prior post.
Salvaging old Marlins is not a pasttime...it's a passion
