    Blind squirrel & a nut

So, I drop into a local gun shop to pick up a pound of H322. I decided I'd peruse the guns first so I wouldn't be carrying a sack around. I stumbled across a used 6" Model 629 (no dash). Now I already own a 6" 629, but this one is a no dash, pinned barrel, recessed cylinder version.

I told the guy whom I was working with I really didn't need another version of a"29" since I have several versions. I've known him for 36 years, he KNEW I wanted it and pulled it from the case & held it for me until my return. I "notified" my wife as to my obvious desires (regarding the gun anyways) and I received her blessing. Actually she said I should have bought it while I was there. So $738.00 (plus tax) later I walked out with another 629. No box or papers but came with a Bianchi #10L holster, inside a Koplin gun rug. Without further adieu..

The top strap has no flame cutting, The front of the cylinder has no forcing cone marks, crane locks up tight, nice tight cylinder gap, timing is perfect. I don't think it was ever fired beyond the factory.

I took it for a test drive today, used my usual plinking load (works in all of my 29's) 45' distance. After a little sight adjustment, things came around.

I think I'm keeping this one.

Oh and since it likes the 429421, I may break-in a Lyman 4 cavity I have of this boolit. It should cast the mostest, perfectest

Awesome! Usually, instead of notifying my wife I am thinking about how big of a layaway payment can come out of my paycheck without causing any household problems.

That just shows you how bad things were getting under "O", when that guy HAD TO GO TO WORK PART TIME AT LYMAN to make ends meet....??

The ONLY time I come across deals like that, are when I am bone broke! Great looking and shooting pistol.

Are you sure you are not me? That is my story to a "T." Want, money, and availability never come together at the same time.
But I would have liked to get money and opportunity to buy that gun. Been on my list for a long time.

With an inspector like that what else can I say except, Amen. Nice 629 also!

Sounds to me like you are doubly blessed: fine new gun and a loving wife who likes for you to have what you want. My advice: Keep both!!!!!

    Merry Christmas.
