    200 gr .357 magnum loads

I'm wanting to try my .358 RCBS 200 rnfpgc boolits in the .357 in a Ruger Blackhawk.
Any advice from those who've tried it? I looked for a thread but missed it I guess.
    Mine weigh 217grs average.

Will it fit? I made up a dummy round of the same and it is too long for my smit and wesson cylinders.

taper on the interior of some 357 cases may be a problem. i used to load 200 grain RNFP for use in a marlin 94, with 12 gr of H110 or so, IIRC. liked H110 better than WW296. noticed the taper issue in loading 3 60 grain wadcutters in a stack. some cases would take them, and some (winchester IIRC) would bulge with 3 wadcutters. most 38 spcl can handle 3 wadcutters fine. it's a fun load to take to the range and land the occasional group on some other fellow's paper. 3 usually go into a 3" circle at 25 yards over 5 grains of unique.

Load it in a 38 special case. load long so that it will not fit in a 38 sp. I used Herco powder. Work up load.

My hunting load for the .357 is 12.5 2400 behind a 200gr. NEI TFP boolit. I tried the RNFP for sillywett and as a already noted had to load it in a 38 special case. BTW - this is another load that I have never been able to recover a boolit from any of the hogs that I've harvested.

MT- It's the RCBS .35 RNFP200gr rifle design. I'll get back to you with that measurement.

Look for a similar sized bearing surface. Loads will be similar. IIRC the 358430 will have more bearing surface as will the 358627. To clear that nose in a revolver you will be deep seating which is never a good idea without firm data.

I checked it this morning and the bearing surface is ok but the nose is too long. It can be done with .38 Sp brass but I won't bother with it. Thanks, everyone.

I have load some 200grs. in both 38/357 and test them in my Rossi 92 and the 357 mags i had to feed them one at a time. otherwise they would not cycle. the 38spl. did no problem.Wonder if I should eat the 357mag ones deeper.

I have a NOE 360-180 WFN that it is crucial for feeding to seat it for a coal of no more than 1.60, and it is better at 1.59. My Hartford Rossi will not feed this bullet any longer than that due to the wide meplat. It could well be deeper seating will work for you.

I used a .358 230 gr WC shooting bowling pins at Second Chance loaded in 38 Spl cases. I used 7.5 gr of Blue Dot and was getting a bit over 1000 ft/sec out of my 6" Smiths. Ended up getting hand gun Master Blaster using that bullet and load. A bit tiring for the hands when we would shoot a couple hundred in a day.

I just done some dumb rounds and went to 1.590 and they cycle in the Rossi and also good to go in my BH and SP101 thank you all.I know it is past the crimp grove on the boolit. but that dose not matter to me anyways. I just wanted to have it cycle and go from there after. i still work on the testing part to see what will work in the guns and go from there.
