WTS 1891 Argentine Mauser, all matching, as new

This is an all matching M 1891 Argentine Mauser rifle:

    [img]http:/

The crest has been buffed off as per usual for an early (pre 1990) import rifle.

The rifle has been fired by me a few times, but it is otherwise pristine.

The bolt and action matches, along with the stock. This rifle is "As issued".

The cleaning rod matches the action & bolt. The butt stock is a nice light colored piece of walnut.

The triggerguard and magazine is original fire blued

All the wood pieces are original Argentine arsenal marked.

The only unoriginal markings are these on the right side of the butt. Some bored trooper has placed a couple bats or Pterodactyls onto the right side of the butt. The rifle is immaculate and the bore is as brand new. This is a one of a kind rifle in this day and age, and is very hard to come by. It's a rifle you could hand down to your kids, and it will only increase in value over time.

The barrel bore is mirror bright and the rifle is with out blemish.

The price is $500 + shipping. I also have a correct Argentine Bayonet and scabbard if interested, although this is NOT included in the price. Shipping will be from California, and may be sent to anyone, even without an FFL , due to it's being a pre '98 Rifle.

    Good morning
This is a nicest one I have seen ! I would not be surprised to know the "markings" are a unit Crest.
Does this rifle fire 7x57 as it is produced today or is the 1891 chamber specs a might different ?

Thank you ! That agrees with what I looked at. Should make a fine cast shooter.

I have to echo Gewehr-Guys sentiments. A beautiful specimen. I would like to have it, but just cannot justify the expense at the moment.

To the top with this fine rifle.

The rifle appears to have been reblued. Military Mausers ever had that high a polish (look at the screws). Guessing that the refinsihing was done after the crest was removed. The stock has also been redone. Still a nice rifle at a fair price.

These DWM produced 1891s were polished blue from the get go, as were the earlier production from Ludwig Loewe (DWM formed by Loewe and marking changed from Loewe Berlin to the DWM seen above). Look at the finish where the crest was removed, different color and not as highly polished. If the entire rifle had been a re-blue, it would match the rest of the receiver. I have had a polished blue Cavalry Carbine since I bought it at Montgomery Ward for $17.00 more than a year or two ago.

Interestingly, under Juan Domingo Peron in the 50s the Argentines authorized duplicate copies be made of the M1 Garand and the 1941 Johnson rifles. Apparently one example of each was produced in 7.65x53mm. Both were made while considering what rifle was to replace the Mausers. FWIW, both were polished blue (Garand Op Rod and some small parts were left in the white).

In my opinion this is “the” most attractive milsurp ever produced. I have two and can’t justify another.
