Model 52 gets a new old scope. Maybe....

I have an old Model 52 (no suffix) that has been wearing a 3x9 Weaver that's nice but it wasn't working the way I wanted at longer ranges. I ran across an old Redfield 3200 16X that looks like it may be the 52s new companion.

Scope blocks on the 52 just don't play as well with the Redfield as I wish but they do work. Now I just need to get and try it at 200 yds and see how it does.

I think it looks a little odd with the long over hang of the front of the scope but I don't think it affect the scopes function.

What do you think of the overhang?

I think if it suits the purpose well, it doesn't matter what it looks like.

I think it looks fine though,,,,,,

Is that scope internally adjusted? Most of them that size I am familiar with (admittedly not many) are the old externally adjustable (I have an Oliver). If it's internally adjustable I'd leave it as it is- you are not likely to break it hanging it out like that!

Yes, the 3200 is an internal adjustable scope.

That scope looks very appropriate to the 52' imho.

With a 3200 Redfield, you are usually better off with the front base on the barrel. That is better for accuracy and, more importantly, it better protects the scope tube from being bumped and bent. If you go with a 6400 Redfield, it would work better the way you are set up.

It should be good like it is for shooting, I would make sure that the scope isn't included in gripping handling the rifle in front of the front ring though. A set of offset rings might allow for the front barrel block to be used, or a long block made from brownells scope rail blank that allows it to be used and set where you want it. A set could be made pretty easily for this rifle.
