70 yds with a short barrel single action is some good shooting I'd say. You must've done some practicing to pull that one off so well. Congratulations.

I tend to shoot conservation bucks and does lately. The last big buck I shot was 4 years ago although I've watched a few this year. I've got lots of horns hanging about anyway.

    What county are you hunting
I've been feeding the twin to your deer for months now, just waiting on muzzleloader season.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

Comanche county. South of Gorman. Two buck county with antler restrictions. The TP&W says to shoot more does and cull bucks and the herd will improve. It works, we see better bucks than when we got on the lease ten years ago. Maybe next season I'll go for a trophy. Maybe not......

You can miss fast & you can miss a lot, but only hits count.

    Nice shot!

    Too bad.
I've had to pass up on over two dozen like him this year.
Here, he isn't legal. Has to have 4pts, one inch or longer on one side to be legal.
Gotta find a place to hunt one county further north, where they are legal.

Anybody know a good recipe for antler stew?
Been hunting for 50yrs, haven't found one yet.
I did manage an 8pt with my Savage M220, and two does (first I'd seen in 5weeks of hunting!) with a 7mm08 w/150gr BallisticTips. Wasn't in the mood to "catch and release"!!!
    Needed to refill the freezer.
Last week I've been hunting an 8pt in the backyard stand with M1894 .44mag w/255gr Keith SWC.
THEY'RE DEATHLY AFRAID OF IT evidently, as I've only seen him at least 1hr after dark...
    Keep up the good shooting!

The .357 works great on deer. My son took his first deer with a .357 carbine a few years ago with a 158 cast bullet. Now that he has sprouted up like a weed he has gone larger but the .357 will get it done. Like anything put the bullet where it needs to go and it’ll get it done.

Awesome, congrats! I have a 586 that I'd like to try deer hunting with, but also have a 24" Rossi rifle in .357 coming that just shipped today. Might just have to get a chest holster for the 586 and use them as a team. But then the other levers will be jealous.....
