    That just can't be....

    First, a 357 won't shoot that far...
Second, it would bounce off a deer..
Third, I couldn't make a good shot like that...

Well Done... I love good hunts... dale

    WTG!! Nice deer too!!
Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? While the rank and file internet/magazine experts decry the 357 as inadequate or marginal for deer, the real world hunters just keep proving them wrong. Good job.
Only left handed guns are interesting!

    Excellent shooting.

In and out took out both lungs and a piece of spine. 1" exit and DRT. I hope to do it proper with cast boolits next time! These are my Rossi carbine loads- quite loud on the ridge top.
Thank you for the compliments and props to Doug Guy for the cylinder work!

    I’ve been beat to it.
Everyone knows the 357 is only good for shooting mice and marginal at that.

What velocity do you think they were cooking at?
God I wish I could handgun or rifle hunt deer in this state.

I haven't chrono'd this load but out of the short barrel I'd guess 1200 fps or so.

I've shot and killed over fifty with the .357mag in a revolver(s) over the last forty years and haven't lost one with that caliber. Nice job of getting started with the handgun. Shot placement is everything with a handgun.
