    E.p. Lead

Just melted some down. When cast into ingots it looks a lot like antimonial lead. Hard enough to be too. Anybody have some back ground on the process/type of lead?

What would it take to recover the silver plating?

Waste of time if you have spare time?

Just a guess here, but the Silver probably disolved into whatever alloy it was plated over. Silver does add some to the castability of Lead and adds a titch of hardness. Oldtimers would disolve a Silver dime in 20 pounds of Lead to improve fillout.

Also, probably not enough Silver in there to bother with trying to get it out. Just my humble opinion.

FWIW I believe that the Oregon Trail Bullet Company still adds silver to their alloy for their Lasercast bullets.

Oregon is part of a silver mining co. The trace of silver in their bullets is left over from the process of separating the lead and silver from the ore.

    Quoting Retumbo “Interesting”

Never knew that, their marketing leaves one with the impression that it is added, good work on the part of their marketing department.
