    Bullet mold for .577 snider

Does anyone have an idea for a good mold for the .577 snider? Any advice would be welcome.

You might try X ring services. I believe they (he) posts occasionally in this forum. They don't have a web site but can be reached by e-mail : xringservices@yahoo.com
The Snider is a strange beast and usually requires a bullet diameter of about .600 to shoot with any kind of accuracy. The original bullet was a hollow-base Minie' type with a wood plug in the base to insure expansion into the bore's rifling. It also weighed a bit more than one ounce. I prefer to shoot .600 round balls from my Sniders as they have less recoil and are reasonably accurate to about 75 yards.

I use the Lyman 575213 in my Sniders. They seem to work well, and I hav had no problems.

MEASURE YOUR BORE! A lot of rifles manufactured for .577 or marked 58 cal. have bores ranging from .574 through .585. You are looking for a Minie that is .001 - .002 under the actual bore size.

You can form it from 24 ga. brass hulls. I think grafs might have the the 577 Snider brass in stock. I got my dies from CH4D. I also have a Lee set. Can't remember where I got them. They were on clearance.

There is no problem so great, that it cannot be solved by the proper application of high explosives.
