    My Trio of Swedes

They are all Carl Gustafs. The straight handle one with the sling & the turned down one are dated 1901. The straight handled one w/o a sling is dated 1908.

They are so long that good photos are beyond my talents.

The turned down bolt specimen is not a Frankenstein: the bolt # matches with the receiver#. I don't know how rare they are......I do know that you don't see very many. It is all original.

The straight bolt rifles have been used in CMP competition & the OEM front sight blade has been removed (they shoot high with the OEM blade) & replaced with a taller item that we sourced from Brownell. They are extremely accurate.

All 3 stock discs show #1 bbl. markings.

I tried to show better shots of the turned down bolt rifle (horizontal).

I’ve had quite a few small ring Mausers, both military and sporterized, Spanish, Chilean, and Swedish. They are some of the best Mausers for the money. Here is my latest, a 35 Rem on a 93 action.

    Here are two:

A Brazilian 94 in 224 Clark, cock on open with a custom made stock. This was built by my mentor. Only had it out once so far on a chilly day and it put 6 80 grain bullets though one hole at 50 yards. Gas handling issues have been addressed. A port has been added on the left side of the receiver that also go though the bolt and a relief has been billed on the left rails to allow gases to escape. I think it is a shooter.

Here is on in progress. A Mexican 1910, a 98 small ring. It is fitted with a Winchester model 70 barrel in 308 Winchester, a hinged floor plate and is being put in a stock originally inletted for a pre 64 Win 70.

Here's my small ring Mauser, already posted it but here it is again. It's a 1915 Erfurt Kar 98 small ring restamped with the 1920 Versaille Treaty date. It's been changed over to .243 Winchester and has the bolt turned down and the stock cut back along with a post WW2 Czech trigger guard, none of the serial numbers match on it. Picked it up for $80.00 at a flea market and dropped an older 1x4 Leopold on it. I added the butt pad just for comfort and am still working on it to shoot straight after I cleaned it up.

TBG, that 30-30 Mauser may be one of the more perfect combinations I've seen for a guy that likes to shoot cast bullets! I think 30 Herrett might have been good too but I'd still prefer that 30-30...

Thanks Arlon! What started as a what if? project turned into one of my most fired guns. I'm always reloading for it and it seems to like most everything.

I have an original full wood military Swede long rifle in 6.5x55 that is a great shooter, plus a sporter in 9x57 Mauser that I bought recently for next to nothing through an online auction. Still fire-forming 8x57 into 9x57 in the sporter, but the first trip out to try a few Lyman #3589's was fairly promising. (The gun is proof marked for 286 grain bullets.)

I may have passed my "Best Before" date, but I haven't reached my "Expiry" date!
