Some like the extra touch of Native American designs. Not something I would do to my rifle. Although your's is nicely done Frontier Muzzleloading and I give you credit for a nicely done pinning.
I guess I'm kind'a old school on such art forms. What garners my attention are Inlays of silver wire or a initial'ed sterling silver plate engraved in old English type maybe inserted into a wrist behind a tang. Either I could grow to like'en in a sure-fire-hurry.
The best part of the tacks for my purpose is being able to get a good handle on the stock. I didnt do it for decoration purposes, but if you do use tacks or nails, make sure its done nicely. It has provided a lot of extra grip, especially in the wrist area, and i feel a lot more comfortable with it. I showed my nephew today and he was speechless when he saw it lol.
That is real neat. Nicely done.
Tacking stocks is not my thing either but this was very nicely done. Actually it looks better with the smaller tacks or nails than with the really big brass ones. I'm more of a plainer, practical type person.
Aim small, miss small!
Looks good Jon. I dont care whether there nails tacks brass or steel it looks good. Al

yeah.
I like tacked stocks if they are done right. Yours looks great!
I think it looks nice. I did something like that to a tomahawk handle except that I nipped the heads off and filed/sanded everything smooth. I did not trust myself to eyeball it so I taped a sheet of graph paper to the handle, marked the holes, removed the graph paper and then drilled them out.
I was gonna ask if you drilled pilot holes but since brass into hardwood I guess you had to. Did you use a template?

No template, just started in the middle and went at it slowly.
Jon, you have a much better eye than do I! I'd probably make two or three templates, then get LOML to correct them!

Good afternoon
I like it ! That adds that fine personal touch to your rifle !
Good to read there is a source of real brass tacks.

That's a nicely done job that, at the same time, adds personality and usefulness to your rifle.
Happy trails,
