Spent the last hour smoking bullets and testing them...

I'm going with a 309 bullet. The current set up has no binding, and best part of all.

ITS SEATED UNDER THE CRIMP GROOVE!

Gas check is @ the base of the neck and not 2 grooves under.

    It "looks" a lot better.

@ the depth i currently have it, the lands are lightly scraping off soot.

Glad you have worked it out, was not trying to be negative, hope you understand that, just concerned..

Post up some target pictures when you have a chance

    Current depth is 2.915.

The way i came up with this number???

Smoked 10 bullets and seated little @ a time until the bolt locked nice and smooth....

Did that for my 312-160 bullet as well.

You can practically do it one time and read where the lands touch with my rifle....

I wouldn't be able to do a lot of this without you guys....

I re configured 2 bullet types and made ammo in just a few hours.

Here's my dummy rounds for future set up.

I like to use the crimp groove where I can. It sort of standardizes things.

I would have to go shoot some of those puppies and have fun.

I love the PC on them. I have only one color... Lipstick Red (harbor freight red). There is something about a 405gr 45-70 with a Red Bullet that has to make you love it.

If you ever decide that you want to part with your RD 165 let me know. That was the 2nd Gen of the 30-30 boolit that Michael designed and one that I don't own (I have 11 of his original molds I use to feed my 9 Marlin rifles)

I really like that bullet. Its the one with the .253 dia nose.

@ 1900 to 2000 fps i can't see it not being very very effective on anything i plan to eat....

Especially excited to see to a coyote frame explode... Or see if i can blow off the rear legs if i get a chest shot...

    I like coyote

They make really good moving targets.

I'm hunting with the NOE 311165 RF in my Remington 700 30.06 this year. The COL is 2.930. It lightly engraves but chambers easy enough. No force needed to close the bolt.

I'm getting almost MOA at 100 yards. Using 4895 with dacron at around 1850 fps.

It worked fine. Around 50 yards and bang flop.

And that's how it's done. Without the recoil.
