    The angle iron was to be the grate the pot sits on. I assumed the pot would be sitting on the plate and the burner below it. The pot and base will work well. Make sure it sits as stable as possible. that much lead sloshing around fluxing and ladling is a lot of force.

    I use wood under my burners for my brew rig in 2 places, other is a painted surface. Some slight color change to the wood from reflected heat, no paint bubbling at all... same burner I use for smelting...
