    WTS Ruger #3 30-40 krag

This thread is closed. Those that PM'd me with offers can keep talking to me. Closing thread because it's going off the rails.

As I've gotten older I find myself hunting less. I still enjoy being out in the woods but really don't want to kill anything. This hunting season I did a lot of thinking and decided I can part with some of my deer rifles. I will list more soon as I decide which ones to part with. I would trade for fun guns like lever actions, US military, 1911s, and revolvers. Also looking for a 16" Contender barrel in 22 hornet. Plus or minus cash on all trades.

Ruger #3 in 30-40 krag. The rifle is in excellent condition. The bore and metal are like new. The wood is really good too. I bought this a few years ago and only shot it once. Nice crisp trigger and a classic round that can be loaded stronger in the #3. I can make a copy of the page in an old Hodgon manual with loads specifically for the #3. $725 shipped to your FFL from me, a non FFL Holder. The rifle will ship in a new plastic case.

Absolutely lovely! And priced right. But I am in the same boat as you, I need to thin the herd as well.

I hope it sells quickly for you. Thanks for posting the pics.

Had one just like it with Ruger bases and rings and a Weaver 4X. Fun to shoot with cast but sold it years ago. Have another now that has been stocked with a full pistol grip stock and different forend but in 30/40 AI. Also fun to shoot with cast and carries well in the woods. Used it this past Saturday to fill my antlerless tag. As one poster said one of the best cartridges for cast.

It is on my bucket list too, I guess I'll have to make do with my Shiloh in 30-40. Good luck with your sale,it is one of the best calibers to shoot cast in.

I'm personally shocked this has lasted. What a great rifle in a great caliber!

I guess, I am not the only one, who would wonder why a fellow would include Lucifer in his screen name/handle. Generally folks pick screen names that have some significance or relevance to them.

In my day lucifer was a slang term for a strike anywhere match.

I guess we have folks here who are steeped in the rigors of hellfire religion.

Lucifers (plural) is just what sparky thought.

    A pun on being "matchless".

Sometimes the explanation does not involve sleeping in a coffin, growing facial hair when the moon is full or living with Saddam.

I hope the OP likes his Ruger ----- they are not all that rare.

I have been going to gunshows and gun shops since I was a youngster. I have never seen a 30-40 number 3 Ruger on any rack of shelf. I have been on this website for the better part of 7 years, and I have never seen one for sale.

I am guessing the original poster must have thought you were quite a rare person--rare enough that he wouldn't sell you his Ruger. I am guessing from the tone of your posts, he wouldn't sell you a Marlin 60 for $3000 cash. You must be a rare person.

Good luck with your sale Historicfirearms. If I was not so poor, I would have snagged that rifle in a second. However, I do have a really nice M1 Garand and a Winchester 92 in 45 Colt I would trade. PM Inbound.
