    9.3 (0.367") 200 to 240 gr PB - any interest?

is there any interest in a group buy on 9.3 ( 0.366 to 0.368 ) bullet molds in 200 to 240 grain.
    I would prefer a 200 to 220 grain mold in aluminium - 4 or 5 cavity.
Molds could be gas check or plain base.
A Loverin style bullet would be my choice. My experience is the Loverin bullets do extremely well with powder coat and traditional lubes

200 grain for 9.3x74r plinker bullet is of interest.

Two cavity g/c, smallish meplat. Don't need to cast huge piles of bullets, a couple of hundred a year is all I need.

All NOE has is 280 grain. For punching paper and dinging steel dingers lighter bullets conserve lead.

    Just trying to be green.

Lead is in short supply locally.
And 280 grains is a lot of thump to punch paper.
A 200 grain 9.3 caliber bullet is going to drop any any animal one runs into in North America

I am interested in anything 9.3 but I would be really interested in a 280 to 300 grain suitable for paper patching. I have not begin my journey into PP yet but am in the process of doing my due diligence to make it happen.

The 280 NOE is very hard to beat for a serious GC boolit. A 180-200 gr PB for pooper loads would be of great interest to me. (I have a Ruger 1S in 9.4x74 and just sent an 06' 1B off to JES to become a 3 groove 9.3x62.)

    Yeah, me too.

Making a pound cast of my chamber is on that todo list.
Might be a good weekend for that.

Is the intent to make it pointy for the paper or blunt for the hunt?

    10X,

In the event that there is any interest in an about 2-cavity 280 grain GC mold, I would be IN.

Would a slightly scaled up version of Lyman #358042 be favorably received?
If a body wanted quick expansion then a 1/4" deep hollow point coupled with a break groove right behind the base of the conical nose would make it blunt real quick.

On the other hand having interchangable nose plugs with and without hollow points would be the cats meow.
    Blunt plug.
    Spitzer plug.
    SWC plug.

I can get lost in bullet designs...

Look at NOE, I just ordered a 368-280-FN (GC) yesterday in a two cavity mold. This sounds like what you are looking for.

Edit: Just looked at Noe's site, doesn't show this boolit, but my in-process order shows one on my order from yesterday. Twilight Zone?

I think the design is kind of open right now. OP started with a 200ish grain bullet. Probably now is the time voice preferences.

Pointy or blunt ? Good question.
A flat point will still put holes in paper, and would be more desirable for hunting.
I think I would prefer Flat point.

Lube groves or not. A GC flat side bullet that is designed for powder coat may give higher velocities with out sacrificing accuracy. .

From 8x57 data (Should be a good starting point to work up a load and safe in 9.3 x 57)

    http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/rifle

A 200 grain 0.366" bullet at 2300 fps is a respectable hunting load if one can attain that velocity with cast.

I Spoke to Al at NOE. We discussed a smooth side ( no lube groove) tapered gas check bullet suitable for powder coating.

I have been using powder coat for three years now and am wondering how a bullet designed for powder coat will preform. I suspect more bearing surface will allow higher velocities

For me, I'm still interested in a traditional grease groove boolit. Not interested in trying powder coating right now.
