    CVA Hunter 450 Bushmaster

I am getting ready to start reloading 450 Bushmaster and am looking for plinking load (approx. 1000 fps) using a 230 grain roundnosed boolit and 700X powder. Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.

Unique is called unique because it is not just pistol powder.

Used it for years in my 16 bore shotgun as well as numerous rifles and handguns.

On the 450 BM 45 Colt loads will all work very well. A 45 ACP boolit may not be the best choice. Would also be a blast with round balls as well.

It would seem like you could look up .45 Colt data and likely use closer to the max loads in the Bushmaster. My Lyman manual has 700X data for several bullets in the .45 Colt.

That said, ten grains of Unique sure seems like a good place to start in most rifle cases.

I loaded up a few with 1.3cc of TrailBoss this morning just to see how they did. Didn't chronograph or anything, just to see if LEE's 200gr SWC would even make it out the barrel and to the target. They made it out and the barrel was pretty clean but the group was about the size of my hand at 25 yards. I was in a hurry so that's one problem. I'll weigh out a few charges this weekend and see how they do. Might try some Red Dot too since I don't have any Unique (I know, it's heresy).
