    WTB/WTT/WTborrow: 1/2"-32 bottom tap

I need it just to chase some threads on a M1 Carbine gas block.
Would like to barrow one, but if someone has a spare to sell for cheap, that would work.
Have stuff to trade if needed.

After shipping both ways, it would be cheaper to buy one. Here's a link to one on eBay https://m.ebay.com/itm/1-2-32-GH3-HI...AAAOSwVNxaD05q

I don't know how bad the threads are that you have to chase but if not that bad, you might be able to buy a 1/2" bolt with 32 thread pitch and chase them with the bolt. Otherwise, as stated above, you'd probably be better off $ wise to just buy at the tap you need.

Probably right about just buying one.
I'll probably use it only this one time.
For $18 I'll just order it.
    Thanks

I just went out to the shop to look. I have a few sets of taps and dies plus an assortment of extras but I don't have anything that fine. Sorry.

If I could find a bolt, that is what I would do, rather than buying the tap. Take the bolt & grind a few tapered flats on it with a grinder, and then grind an angle on the tip to start would likely work. Much like a tap. Male threads cleaning up the female grooves while straightening any male threads in the hole & the craap in there comes out where ya ground the flats. Blow out , lube & blow again & maybe that would fix the issue without too much cost.

Otherwise ya could ask around at some machine or repair shops to see if they would help ya out for a few $$ or some beer or pizza or the like. Bribery may get ya some where... LOL

Standard is 1/2-13 NC or 1/2-20 NF
1/2-32 is national special; not common hardware store stuff.
You can get one here at Travers tool, good people to deal with.

I just ordered the one on ebay.
Probably only use it once, but at least I'll have one if someone wants to borrow it.
