    First one with a shotgun

Went out for a wander this morning, rabbits were not to be found so i stopped off at the house and swapped the shot loads for a few slugs and went to the woods. Hunting BIG wa bbits now! Snuck up on this guy at about 50 yards. He ran 75 yards but a blind man could have followed the blood trail! Dead at the shot but took him a sec to figure it out and fall over. Already in the fridge and planning for a backstop and biscuit breakfast. Not much bigger than a swamper but he will be tender

Thanks guys, funny I just realized its my first with a factory load too
A friend was gifted an A5 with sights (1950s gun) and it got me to thinking...... Anyway I had these Federal slugs in the cabinet from no telling when. 1 to check poi, 1 for this deer, got 3 more. Shoot now I gotta find a 16ga slug mold, was a fun hunt.

I have a 16 gauge Ithaca Deer Slayer, but have never shot one with it. I was urprised at how available 16 gauge slugs are, I didn't have any real trouble finding them. I did find some Brenneke slugs I haven't tried yet.

Congrats on the deer. Nice old shotgun too.

Yes sir! The bole of that old oak looks like a good place for a nap too! Most of my deer "stands" look like that.
