LOL!
I've been lucky. My only drips at a rate of one drop every few minutes.
LOL! FWIW, for the most part my doesn't drip (so far). Somehow the handle got stuck in the "up" position during the previous cool-off. It stopped as soon as I tapped it down.
In regards to shooting safety.Until you are ready to fire, keep your booger hook off the bang switch.
My 20 lb pot spit out the top shoulder bolt which then bounced off my ample gut my right thigh and promptly hid under something. The only way I'm going to find it is by ordering a replacement. As soon as I open the packaging the old one will appear.

jdfoxinc, that goes without saying! (So why'd ya say it? LOL) Murphy is a PAIN, we all know that.
I remember years ago being told that the stove we used for heat was refueled by a family member; Uhm... Fire it up and 3 - 4 minutes later that stove's dying from lack of fuel. It's all funny in retrospect, so long as you don't get anyone hurt!
In time the pot drip will give you an even cooler lead sculpture.
Don't smelt in the casting pot and keep it clean, you will prevent most drips.
The likeness to Jabba is striking...
It's called 'Drip Art'...other more expensive and reliable pots are not able to make them on their own...
It's good entertainment during a long casting session...watching the thing morf as it grows taller. The slower they drip, the taller the sculpture.
I've had them pile up in a spire as tall as the mould shelf, one drip at a time...sorta hated to knock them over but they were starting to get in the way.
If you use clean Pb and don't smelt in the pot you will get less of these 'Lee Sculptures'.
I'd powder coat it with clear and use it as a paperweight...uncanny resemblance!

the more expensive pots can leak too.
my magma pot has an intermittent drip starting after 30 years of use.
I'm gonna drain it and clean it out for the first time ever, maybe do a little lap on the rod and seat.
Well...that settles it R5R....Our Lee pots are just naturally more artistic...huh?

My 4-20 pot makes sculptures also. I give them to the wife and we both have different interpretations of them. She displays them in the kitchen window sill.
I actually don't mind the pot dripping (1 drop every 30 seconds or so) it tells me that the spout hasn't frozen. I have to cast outdoors. I keep a tray under the spout to catch the drippings.
Yea, I've had some pretty interesting drip art myself. FYI it is usually considered a bad idea to eat, drink or smoke while casting.
I was expecting to see some pictures of nicely filled out bullets!
mine got so big it encased the spout and i had to use a torch to free it so I could get it out from under the pot
I called it art, my wife called me crazy

I thought about putting a hole in the base, and bench, under the spout, with a holesaw. Just slide a tray under it, and you're done.
