What are you using for butt stock ammo carriers?

I'm kind of sad my rifle only holds 6 in the tube and 1 in the chamber. I've always been of the mindset that more ammo in the gun is better. However I'm not opposed to more ammo being readily on the gun, so I started looking for a butt stock ammo carrier for my 1895, preferably leather and made in USA. Can some point me in a good direction?

there was a member here that did custom ones, he did one for me with the shells on one side and my brand on the other, really nice piece of work, can not remember his name now. let me do some research and I will try and find it.

You might contact member "Springfield", as I believe he makes them.

    Hope this helps.

single shots or lever fed rifles find and dandy to have a slip on. Since my rifle is clip fed. Its faster for me to snap in another clip laying on the window sill in front of me without my loosing site of my quarry. Having to putts around in trying to hand load one cartridge only. That is to distracting to my liking.

Have seen others who use such accessory's (Uncle Mikes seems to be their preferred.)

As already mentioned, if I was looking I'd contact Springfield.
But I use my pants pockets.

    7 shots with a 45/70 don't get it done ? You don't need a cuff you need a Bayonet!

Ohio allows only 3 rounds in any firearm while deer hunting.

This is true, but you know plugs are not required, we are on the honor system now. Doesn't matter
much on Lever guns but guys using Semi autos with removable mags don't seem to count very
well. Down here in SE Ohio you only encounter with wardens is on the road. You won't believe the
number of Hi point carbines with red dots that are deer rifles down here. Makes me want to put
a Bump stock on my Ruger #3.

I have several Allen slip on ammo holders on my H&R Handi rifles. And I made a leather holder for my Win 94AE that holds 9 in leather loops. Plus it has a sling with 6 more nice tight holders.

With a tube full and all those, that should be enough to get back to the vehicle or camp.

Whatever you can find that will do the job and meet your needs.

I have the Allen company slip on one. If I had perty wood stock I would have to go leather. But since I am using cheap synthetic stocks. I go with the cheap holder. I have had it for several years now.

I'm not a good shot. And most of my paper will vouch for that. I can't hunt with a 45 caliber centerfire to the best of my knowledge.

My original ‘73 has a sliding door on the butt plate, with room inside the stock for a multi piece cleaning rod. Makes a dandy place to store four rounds.

Not leather but HillPeopleGear makes one. They seem to go to great lengths to get US made materials and sew everything in the US as well. Their stuff is top notch, well made and robust. It might not look traditional but it will last a good long time.

The one I got from them is a "cuff", didn't have the borders, I liked the simpler look.

My son already called my Marlin 45\70 "Thumper" so the graphic was a no brainer.
