I just ordered one of these in 357. I justify it after looking at the 357 handi prices. They're rediculous. I'm hoping this will be a shooter and I'm going to enjoy plinking with home cast 38s.

Well I have one of the H&R's in .357mag. I never saw any point in reaming it to max.

For me it is not a matter of getting more powder in there. As I am only loading 4.6 grains of Red Dot in mine as it is.

The .360DW brass does let me set the bullet right at the edge of the rifling, and gave me a little boost in accuracy. I have no complaints with mine. I have a target that had 3 158 gr .358 round nose bullets go through one hole at 50 yards. That is stacking them up nicely in my opinion.

So I put it away, its done.

If I was to get it out it would be to work on the 200 gr gas checked bullet and loads.
But as I am not hunting these days I just don't feel a lot of need at this point.

Well, I have mixed emotions about my new rifle right out of the box. The gun is cool but quality control leaves something to be desired. The barrel coating has a huge flaw in it right on the side. Of course I couldn't complain to the dealer because they're a middle man. We'll see what traditions has to say and I'll be reporting back to let you all know.

Yesterday I had 4 shots touching while propped on a tree at 35ish yards today. These were 357 158g jacketed over 14g of 110. Further testing is obviously necessary...

    My pic won't load... Hmmm

That is a bad spot for sure. But if it's very accurate how's the warranty one going to shoot?

I don't know... I'm going to call and see what the deal is. They're still closed for Christmas.
I'm not pleased with the barrel coating glob. It's peeling around it like it wasn't prepped or the coating had a glob of junk in it. I just know that it should be made right and I shouldn't have to pay to cover it.

no kidding I had a 45-70 from CVA that started spotting like that but no where near as bad. Worth a phone call.

Hmmm 35Whelen got my attention. But Traditions... a "tradition" of poor quality. Buddy of mine had a traditions M/L, eventually gave up on it and bought a T/C that actually worked.
I give loading advice based on my actual results in factory rifles with standard chambers, twist rates and basic accurizing.
My goals for using cast boolits are lots of good, cheap, and reasonably accurate shooting, while avoiding overly tedious loading processes.
The BHN Deformation Formula, and why I don't use it.
How to find and fix sizing die eccentricity problems.
Do you trust your casting thermometer?
    A few musings.

I figured it was a long shot but I have looked so long for a 357 rifle with no luck I thought it was a chance worth taking. We'll see.... I may still have to find this "RFM".

Customer service has not been close to impressive. I'm getting frustrated quickly.

That stinks, I was very much hoping for this to work out. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Good luck finding satisfaction. Poor quality drives me nuts. Question: What is the length of pull?

I haven't measured the pull yet. It's not bad.

I've still not had any response from customer service at traditions yet. It's starting to really get me irritated. I will be calling again tomorrow if no email reply is received. Wish them luck. I'm getting very impatient.
