    old friends

    well our gun season opens this Sat.
    way back when I first started hunting deer at age 12
    I started with two rifles in our possession a 30-30 win
    and a rem 721(788) in 6mm rem I still have to original 30-30
    and have the 6mm but not original however I have decided
    to take these two rifles hunting deer this weekend if I need a rifle I
    will take 1 or the other but for opening day I am taking a new friend
    a Thompson Center Encore in 475 Linebaugh
    Both the 475 and the 30-30 will be shooting cast the 475 a pc 20-1 400 gr boolit
    and the 30-30 a NOE 165 gr cp or a 311041 both cast from 50/50

    There is just something about old friends, whether people or firearms. You have good candidates and I wish you complete success on opening day. We are well into our firearms deer season here. I hunted opening day and again today, Thursday. Unfortunately have not notched my tag yet. Hopefully that will change here within the next few days.

    I'm kind of a fan of the 6mm even though I haven't shot mine in years. Mine is a Remington 788, but I'd love to have a 721 someday.
