I'd buy one tomorrow if they came in 454/45 Colt . You would think with as many offerings that Henry has in 45 Colt repeaters that they would consider it and the .357/38.

They told me via email they planned on doing .357 in the near future as well as other offerings as time goes on.

does anyone know of an accurate 44mag cal boolit mold between 265-300 grs that was actually designed for use in carbines? I was looking at noe's 44-277 keith design, but I'm not sure if that's the best choice for a max range of 100yards, which I think is reasonable with a boolit of those weights.

do you think that a 44 mag henry singleshot can be reamed to 445supermag?? im not sure, is the supermag just a longer 44 mag or is there a difference in the rim?

    30-30 by chance ?

I didn't ask, not a cartridge I am interested in. I inquired about the 357 mag specifically.

Ah ha. Thanks for the reminder. Driving into town this morning, discussed with the better 2/3's that I needed to touch base with them about when the .41's might be.

Thanks for the update and range report. I know of several shooters of which I am one, who have been anxiously awaiting to get their hands on the new Henry. It's good to know that all of the hype has actually turned into reality. Hasn't always been the case over the years. Good on Henry.

with the .444, is it possible to duplicate loads from 44spl, to well, 444 loads? I have heard the 444 has a bit flatter trajectory than the 45-70, and iis good to 200yds for elk, with the right load, of course, but most of the time I just want medium 44 mag loads. in the henry's 22" barrel, would a stout, heavy boolit from the 44 mag be enough for big deer, hogs, and elk to 100 yards? I think the hogs will be the toughest, and that's probably were 70 % of my hunting will be focused. thanks a lot!!!-Travis

Any rifle chambered in .444 can be reduced loaded to .44 levels if you choose the right powder.

Plenty of people consider hunting all of those with a .44Mag pistol so a rifle would be even better.

For Elk I'd probably want to load it up a bit more toward the .444 specs and heavy bullet. Never hunted hogs. Even big mule deer would be fine. Bullet placement!

Bullets can be an issue. .429 pistol bullets are made for pistol velocities and some will break up if a hit is made at rifle velocities.

Does anyone know the bore size of the 44 mag, I would assume std rifle size, and the twist rate? I have held, drooled over and fondled the .223 and am waiting to see the 44 mag.

Just put the letter in the envelope urging them to produce the steel receiver in .41 Magnum.

Enough different companies in the US have made that style of rifle. Realizing beauty is in the eye of the beholder, hopefully someday one of them will make it look like something other than a tomato stake.

I've been wanting a 45-70 for awhile now, and I gotta say I'm a little more than just tempted after seeing that Henry. Is the recoil out of something like that going to be so bad as to not be fun to shoot, or is it going to be just fine? I've shot 45-70 out of a Marlin Guide gun with a ported barrel before, and it wasn't bad at all.

does anyone know about the steel 45-70? do you think it is made to handle the 28,000psi loads? or would it be best to play it safe and keep them to 20-24,000psi?? thanks a lot!!!-Travis

are the uberti 1885 high walls stronger and or more reliable? and do break opens subjected to the recoil of the 45-70 lossen up over time? ( I am speaking of the 28Kpsi loads and less) thank you!
